After retiring from a career in aviation I took up wood turning as a hobby. Friends and relations liked what I was producing and so I decided to take the next step and start a small business.
I use mainly British hardwoods from sustainable sources. Much of my wood comes from Northumberland where I have strong ties. My inspiration comes from the wood and what I see around me and I allow my ideas to change as the wood reveals its contents. Where the grain is significant I let the wood do the talking and where it is less so I embellish it with various painting, waxing, gilding and texturing techniques. I do try to make items that are practical as well as decorative and where required I use food safe finishes.
For the most part I am self taught and operate from my home workshop in Lincolnshire.
In the Gallery you can view some of my creations and in the Shop are items I currently have available. Commissions are welcome but may depend on the availability of suitable wood. Alternatively visit me at a Craft Market, a list of upcoming events can be found on the Events page.
Thank you for visiting my site.
